Carpe Diem

Today is your day. Now is your time. Why? Because you are here! Are you special enough to seize this day? Yes. How do I know? Because you are here!

Our lives are busy. We get side-tracked with the trivial, the mundane, the things the world says are important. Occasionally, an event happens to shake us from our waking sleep, but then right back we go into the walking dream.

Mainstream culture is no help. It majors and emphasizes the meaningless. The meaning is right here before us in every moment. Winston Churchill once said, "Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened."

That's you. That's me. That's most of us much of the time. Let us refocus. Let the air filling your lungs and passing back out across your lips remind you that NOW is THE moment...the ONLY moment we have. Let us make the most of it.

The Carpe Diem scene from the amazing Robin Williams film Dead Poets Society is so powerful that it can serve as one of those moments to reawaken and focus on the matter at hand.

May you seize this moment, this day, this year, your life!
