ABC News CloseUp: Mission Mind Control

Back in the 1970s, the American news media still had some independence and a determination to look out for the interests of the American people. One example is this 1979 documentary on the ABC News show CloseUp. Hosted by Paul Altmeyer, the show explored the then 30-year history of US intelligence research into mind control. The focus is on the famed MKUltra project, but it provides insight into how far intelligence services were willing to go to "win" the Cold War.

Here is Mission Mind Control in its entirety. There's amazing information here even 40 years later. As you watch, though, consider this. When was the last time you saw a major mainstream US news organization tell you truth like this? Note too, that some of the scientist interviewed for the documentary seem to have zero compunction about the risks of the work they engage in to the wider public.
